Prayer Breakfasts

A number of Prayer Breakfasts are held around Australia. Some are organised by MPs, as in the case of the National Prayer Breakfast.

Other Prayer Breakfasts are organised by other groups. The Melbourne Prayer Breakfast (see below) is organised by business leaders. Some Prayer Breakfasts are organised at the local Council level.

National Prayer Breakfast

The breakfast is hosted by the Parliamentary Christian Fellowship - made up of Christian MPs in the federal parliament. It is an annual event held in the Great Hall in Parliament House, Canberra.

General format: After the breakfast, seminars are held, followed by lunch.
The Breakfast is preceded by a Sunday evening worship celebration in the Great Hall at Parliament House.

Previous Breakfast Speakers:

2008: The Speaker at the 2008 National Prayer Breakfast was Mama Maggie, who works in the slums in Cairo.

2007: The 2007 Breakfast was originally scheduled for September 2007 but was CANCELLED due to the federal election.

2006 - 27 November
The speaker was Jonathon Aitken, a former British Cabinet Minister who was convicted and sent to jail for perjury. He is now the leader of Prison Fellowship in the UK.

2005 - 28 November
General Georges Sada, the National Security Advisor to the Iraqi Government.

The Governor-General Michael Jeffery was the speaker.NACL is co-ordinated by Dr Graham McLennan.


National Alliance of Christian Leaders Dinner

The NACL Dinner is held in Canberra on the Saturday night of the weekend of the National Prayer Breakfast.

Time: 5:30 for 6:00 PM

In 2005, Dr Stuart Piggin spoke about the National Forum on Australia 's Christian Heritage which was held in 2006, the 400th anniversary of the naming of "La Australia del Espiritu Santo by Pedro Fernandez de Quiros.
