PetitionsAction_-_Pen_and_computer_1172246_33091802_

A number of groups run petitions where people can register their support - or opposition - to a particular proposal. Sometimes it is directed at proposed legislation, at other times it addresses matters of concern in the community. When a petition is co-ordinated by an MP they can use the numbers to show that the community doesn't support proposed legislation and that can help them in their opposition to legislation.

Please sign the petitions below!

One of our reservations about petitions is that people might think ALL they need to do is sign the petition. However it is vitally important that we do other things such as contact our MPs directly or contact the governments about our concerns.

Victoria - Religious Exceptions

This petition is concerned with the current threat to religious exceptions in Victoria's Equal Opportunity Act. With Rob Hulls making a statement on the exceptions recently, it is vital that we affirm the right of faith-based schools to be able to employ ALL staff (not just those teaching 'religion') in accordance with their beliefs.

MP Inga Peulich has posted a petition on her website highlighting these objections - she is presenting petitions to the Parliament as they arrive. Please do this as soon as possible!

Please download the petition from her website - click here.
