Victoria - Parliament and MPs
Victoria has a Legislative Assembly (88 Districts each having one Member) and a Legislative Council (40 Members - Eight Regions each having five Members).
Each voter has one representative in the Legislative Assembly.
Each voter has five representatives in the Legislative Council.
At the State election held in November 2006, the upper house, the Legislative Council, was altered. The numbers were reduced from 44 members to 40 members. The State has been divided into 8 Regions, each having five Members.
The Labor Party won the election held on 25 November 2006.
The Premier is John Brumby.
The Leader of the Opposition is Ted Baillieu (Liberal).
