Antony Flew, former atheist, dies

Flew in NYT obituaryAntony Flew has died at the age of 87 - in the UK on April 8, 2010.

He was a prominent atheist until his 81st year when he came to believe in God.
Tributes and obituaries are being written about his amazing change from atheism to a belief in God after realising that the incredibly complex DNA could not have 'made itself'. Numerous obituaries have been written, such as this one.

One report said "Like Einstein before him, Flew found that God was the only possible answer when it came to increasingly complex discoveries from sub atomic particles to the human genome to the very origins of the Cosmos". Antony Flew asked "How can a universe of mindless matter produce beings with intrinsic ends, self replication capabilities and ‘coded chemistry'?"

In 2004 Mr Flew said, "The almost unbelievable complexity of the arrangements which are needed to produce life, show that intelligence must have been involved."

He went on to write a book, called 'There is a God - how the world's most notorious atheist changed his mind'.

In 2004 he produced a video about his belief in God. The video/DVD is called "Has Science Discovered God." He described himself as a 'deist', saying he didn't believe in an afterlife and questioning the personal interaction of God with us.
