Feb 13 - March 24 2013 - 40 Days for Life

Last year the co-founder of 40 Days for Life, David Bereit, toured Australia to talk about his work. The 40 Days for Life website says, “40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life campaign with a vision to access God’s power through prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil to end abortion.”

During ’40 Days for Life’, people pray outside abortion clinics on a roster basis – the organisers invite you to participate.

40 Days for Life is now held right across the USA and in eight other countries – see locations

In Australia, you can participate in 40 Days for Life in:
Victoria (East Melbourne and Croydon),
NSW (Sydney and Tweed Heads),
Queensland (Brisbane),
SA (Adelaide)
and
WA (Perth).
You can register online or contact the organisers by email or phone (use links for each location to get full details.)

Feb 2013 - Geert Wilders tours Australia

Last year the federal Immigration Minister was very slow in issuing a visa to Dutch MP Geert Wilders (read our report).

Q Society re-scheduled the speaking tour – Geert will be visiting Australia during February to speak about Islam and free speech. Geert knows all about this, since he was charged with 'inciting hatred' against Muslims and faced court in The Netherlands, eventually being acquitted.

Public meetings will be held in Melbourne (19 Feb), Perth (20 Feb) and Sydney (22 Feb).
Check out the event website for details of the tour and to book tickets – click here

If you can't get to hear him, check out our Free Speech page on Geert.
In May 2012, he published a book, called Marked for Death: Islam’s War Against the West and Me - read a review or buy it here.

2013 - National Day of Thanksgiving - Sat 25 May

The National Day of Thanksgiving, to be held on Saturday 25 May, 2012 celebrates our thankfulness to God - as well as to people in our community.

The NDOT website says, "The National Day of Thanksgiving is a unique opportunity for Australians to celebrate and give thanks for our God-given heritage as a nation and to demonstrate the God given values of honour, respect, thankfulness and gratitude towards our fellow man that have made us the great nation we are."

As well as thanking those in our own communities, the NDOT leaders suggest we focus on two primary areas:
Local Government and Chaplains

Sat 20 April 2013 - Life Dinner

The Life Dinner will be held on Saturday April 30, 2013.
Why not join us - and hundreds of others - in supporting life!

The Life Dinner is organised by Life Coalition, a network of pro-life groups in Victoria. It was initially formed during the fight against Victoria's awful Abortion Law Reform Act (passed in 2008).   The Coalition now meets monthly to discuss life and family issues and to develop strategies.

The Life Dinner has been held for the past few years - with between 400 and 600 people attending. This year the Life Dinner will be held at Moonlight Receptions in Nicholson St, North Fitzroy. (it's hard to get a venue that is large enough to accommodate all those who want to attend!)
The Dinner starts at 6.30 pm.
Special Guest speaker: Moira Kelly
The Dinner is a fund-raiser to help raise money to combat anti-life legislation.
There is an auction on the night - as well as a silent auction. All in all, it is a great night.

The cost is $80 for a 3 course meal with drinks ($60 for students).

Contact us if you'd like to join us at the Life Dinner.
