Green Paper

The Rudd government has released its 'Green Paper' on carbon emissions and trading ... on 16 July 2008.

Over the next few months they will be asking for input from business...

The most disturbing initial response is their use of the word 'POLLUTION'!
They call it the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CAPRS).

In the 7.30 Report Kevin Rudd noted there would be some compensation to low income families and those on pensions - and also to protect 'high-emitting' industries.

There was little detail and the interviewer asked repeated questions.

Prof Bob Carter on the Green Paper
Bob justs gets to the opening sentence in the first section of the Foreward.
He finds and analyses SEVEN errors in this sentence:
Why we need to act
"Carbon pollution is causing climate change, resulting in higher temperatures, more
droughts, rising sea levels and more extreme weather."
He starts with the fact that this is NOT pollution - we are talking about carbon dioxide!
