In the USA a huge march for life is held each year on January 22 in Washington DC. It is called March for Life and has been held every year since 1974. It marks the US Supreme Court's infamous abortion decisions on January 22, 1973 and calls on the US Congress to redress the situation.
In 1974 there were about 20,000 people at the march. By 2007 there were an estimated 200,000. In 2010 an estimated 250,000 people attended.
A Dinner and Convention are also held at the same time (source).
In Australia, the March for the Babies, which is modelled on the US March for Life, was first held in 2009 - to mark the decision by the Victorian Parliament to legalise abortion by passing the Abortion Law Reform Act on October 10, 2008. Click here for more information on the March for the Babies.
A really inspiring video clip from the 2010 March for Life has been published on You Tube - it focuses on the message 'I was born'... people give the date of their birth but the emphasis is on actually being born at all!
