Victoria has a new Premier

Ted Baillieu resigned tonight as the leader of the Liberal Party and Premier of Victoria.
Denis Napthine has been elected as the new Premier of Victoria by the Liberal Party.
[Media report]

We have had concerns for a long time about Ted Baillieu’s voting on many moral issues – he voted for the draconian Abortion law and for Relationship Registers.

Denis Napthine has a much better voting record on moral issues – he opposed both of those Bills, as well as voting against surrogacy legislation.

We trust this development will now bring the Liberal Party to a more conservative position on moral issues and allow them to undo some of the disastrous decisions made by the previous Labor government such as the Abortion law and the Racial and Religious Tolerance Act.

Topher's NEW film - 'The Forbidden History of Terrible Taxes'

Last year we sent out a video by Topher Field titled 'The Forbidden History of Forgotten People' which dealt with restrictions on free speech...

Topher has just released the second short film in the series.

It's called 'The Forbidden History of Terrible Taxes' and lasts for just 13.5 minutes.

Topher covers the history of taxes (chimney taxes, window taxes etc) and goes on to look at all the taxation we pay that funds government, welfare payments, grants and so on.

A very insightful and engaging film that is well worth watching - and circulating!

The series website says:
The Forbidden History of Terrible Taxes - Counting the Cost of Government

In episode #2 of the ‘Forbidden History’ trilogy (Fundraising now!) Topher looks at some of history’s most ridiculous taxes, examines exactly how much tax a working Australian can expect to pay and asks the question “Have we learned from history or are we repeating it?”

A third film is planned - 'The Forbidden History of Gargantuan Government'.
Stay tuned for that one!

Contrasting Geert Wilders and homosexual group 'Way Out'

This week the Victorian Supreme Court Court of Appeal is hearing an appeal by Christian Youth Camps against a decision by VCAT which found they discriminated by not allowing a homosexual group, Way Out, to use their premises.

Read more about the appeal here and here.

Geert-Wilders-photo-793682Vickie Jansen, of Australian Christians, contrasts the treatment of Geert Wilders with this case. She points out that more than 30 venues either refused to rent their premises, or cancelled their contracts, to allow Geert Wilders to speak. No one is suing the venues for refusing to rent them. But when Way Out was refused the venue, they took the case to the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission and then to VCAT.

Her conclusion: "The equality argument only works when nobody stands for anything and everyone falls for everything. Mr Wilders certainly wasn’t treated equally. Perhaps if he had been homosexual he may have had a case for discrimination, but as it is, as a married western male, there’s not much hope."

This week Peter has written a feature article on the treatment of Geert Wilders and his message - along with highlighting the message from Sam Solomon, a former Muslim jurist and now a Christian.

Abortion advocate admits life begins at conception

In a recent article in Salon.com to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the US Roe v Wade abortion decision, Mary Elizabeth Williams conceded that life begins at the moment of conception. However, she maintains that the choice of the woman takes precedence over the life of the baby. She concludes her essay, "And I would put the life of a mother over the life of a fetus every single time — even if I still need to acknowledge my conviction that the fetus is indeed a life. A life worth sacrificing."

We need to know how these people who support abortion actually think - and what is behind their arguments.

So what if abortion ends life?

Albert Mohler responded to the article, in a piece titled,  “So What if Abortion Ends a Life? Rare Candor from the Culture of Death"
He wrote, "The question is horrifying, but the argument was all too real. In a recent article, Mary Elizabeth Williams of Salon.com conceded what the pro-life movement has contended all along — that from the moment of conception the unborn child is undeniably a human life. And yet, Williams argues that this unborn human life must be terminated if a woman desires an abortion. The child is a life, but, in her grotesque view, “a life worth sacrificing.” . . .

Naomi Wolf made a similar admission in 1995
This isn’t the first time that supporters of abortion have conceded this – in 1995, feminist Naomi Wolf admitted that life starts at conception, and urged fellow abortion advocates to “contextualize the fight to defend abortion rights within a moral framework that admits that the death of a fetus is a real death.” However, she still claimed it was still a woman’s right to have an abortion.
