22 June 2004 - Marriage Act Amendment Bill passes House of Representatives
The House of Representatives has passed amendments to the Marriage Act to ensure that it specifies that marriage is ONLY between a man and a woman.

The Bill now goes to the Senate - unfortunately the ALP and the Greens and Democrats have said they want to send it to a Committee for an 'Inquiry'. If this is lengthy it may not be put to the Senate for a vote before the forthcoming election.

ACTION NEEDED: Please write to your 12 State Senators (only 2 each for ACT and NT).
Ask them to pass the Marriage Act Amendment Bill promptly.
Make sure you give your name and address so they know you are an elector in their State.

28 May 2004 – The ‘L’ Word on TV
Wednesdays, at 10.30pm on all capital city and regional Channel 7 stations.

The campaign of writing to advertisers about their ads appearing on 'The L Word' has been very successful. Media coverage in major newspapers has mostly been favourable.
Twelve companies have now written to say that they have asked either Channel 7 or their media agency NOT to put their ads on the program again. Many other companies have told us they were 'bonus' ads and they had no control over their placement.
Initially we revealed the names of the companies. However, since the first five companies we listed were contacted by the homosexual press and subsequently 'withdrew' from their written position to us, we are not naming the other companies.

There's something about 'Miriam'
This reality TV show on Channel 10 (6 episodes) is half way through. Six men are competing for the affections of someone they think is a woman. But 'Miriam' is really a man. The deception of the program is unacceptable. After the winner was announced and 'Miriam' revealed she was a man, the men took legal action and were awarded large payouts from Sky One, the British pay TV company.
We have asked people to write to the advertisers again . . .
So far EIGHT companies have said they will not be advertising again!
The companies and the media agencies are starting to take more responsibility about where the ads appear - after all, it is their advertising dollars that allow the TV stations to operate!
