The Oblongs
Channel Nine is planning to screen a cartoon program called "The Oblongs" on
Saturdays at 7.30 pm (from this Saturday, Dec 8). It is apparently rated "PG" by
the station - even though it features siamese twins joined below the waist who
are very violent, a little girl with a "penis" growing out of her head, a
limbless father and an alcoholic mother. The series ridicules dwarves and those
with mental impairment.
Channel 9 said "Coming up with an appropriate time slot was difficult".
Unfortunately they have chosen prime time television when the maximum possible
number of children will be watching.
Apparently Channel 9 is "bracing themselves for a barrage of complaints".
Let's not disappoint them!
ACTION:
Contact them PRIOR to Saturday: express your concern, complain about the time
slot and ask that the series not be shown. After Saturday, phone or write to
them expressing your concerns again.
Phone: (03) 9429 0201 (Melbourne) (or contact your local
Channel 9 in your State).
Write: Mr Graeme Yarwood, Managing Director, Channel 9, PO
Box 100, Richmond, Vic 3121.

HARRY POTTER - It may be promoted as just fun for the kids
but it is to the SOUL.
J.K. Rowling researched witchcraft and mythology to ensure that the spells
and other details were accurate - it is not just harmless fun.
Harry Potter research material IS NOW ON THE SALT SHAKERS WEB SITE - click

Pray for the Nunawading Adventist College principal and chaplain - they are
being attacked by the media for not allowing the books at school.
Some 'church' schools have organised school excursions for
their pupils - we suggest you do not let your children attend. When the books
are read in class and schools attend the film, it takes the decision - to allow
their children to see the film or not see the film - out of the hands of
parents.
