Parliaments and
MPs...
As citizens we have a duty to communicate with our
parliamentarians and let them know our views. Their role is to represent us. The
article Why Does Democracy Fail
has an excellent explanation from Compton’s encyclopedia about
our responsibility in this area.
Federal
The Federal button has links for the Federal parliament and information about
Members of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
State
The State buttons have links to all State and Territory parliaments and
details on contacting your parliamentarians.
Who are my
MPs?
People often ask us how they can find out what
electorate
they are in...
Just follow these steps to find out your federal
and state electorates:
The Australian Electoral
Commission has a special website that enables you to verify your
enrolment details. Click here.
Type in your name and address. Click “Verify Enrolment” and your federal and
state electorate details will be shown as well as your local government
details.
Then print it out for future reference!
By phone:
You can phone the
AEC on 13 2326 and ask for the details. Just have a pen and paper ready to write
them down.
Alternatively many of the state and federal parliament websites now have interactive pages that enable you to find out
who your MPs are as well as your electorates...
Click here to visit the Australian Electoral Commission website
for more information.
