Climate Predictability - a Report by WJR Alexander. A Reprint from Science and Public Policy Institute
The author discusses the the variability of the mean which has been assumed by the alarmist camp to be constant; the probable influence of sun spot activity; and, more importantly, the double sun spot periodicity of 21 years. He also brings out the difference between evidence based theory and process based theory.
Unfortunately, we are all in the thrall of the 'process theorists' and this is determining our adverse political and economic responses.
The Institute of Pubic Affairs has published a booklet titled Climate Change: The Facts - with many different contributors who don't agree with global warming alarmism. These include Ian Plimer, Richard Lindzen, Bob Carter, Nigel Lawson, Bill Kininmonth...

28 September 2009 - Global Warming 'Science'
American Thinker, By John McLaughlin - September 27, 2009.
"It was a startling admission. Prior to passage of "Cap-and-Trade" legislation by the House of Representatives, Mr. Henry Waxman (D, CA), House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman and co-sponsor of the bill, in responding to a question from Mr. Joe Barton (R, TX) at a May 22 hearing, admitted the following:
I certainly don't claim that I know everything that's in this bill. I know we left it to ....we relied very heavily on the scientists on the IPCC and others and the consensus they have that there is a problem with global warming, it's having an impact, and that we need to reduce it by the amounts they think we need to achieve in order to avoid some of the consequences. That's what I know, but I don't know the details. I rely on the scientists.
Since then, the House of Representatives has passed and sent to the Senate a major piece of legislation which both Republicans and Democrats agree will heavily tax certain industries, significantly raise prices on energy consumption, and increase the cost of almost all produced goods. .."
7 September 2009 - NASA and sunspots
NASA: Are Sunspots Disappearing?
From NASA News: September 3, 2009. "The sun is in the pits of the deepest solar minimum in nearly a century. Weeks and sometimes whole months go by without even a single tiny sunspot. The quiet has dragged out for more than two years, prompting some observers to wonder, are sunspots disappearing?..."
3 June 2009 - Climate and Industry
A very interesting article from Bjorn Lomborg, the author of "Cool It: The Skeptical Environmentalist's Guide to Global Warming".
The Climate-Industrial Complex
"Some businesses see nothing but profits in the green movement".
Wall St Journal, By BJORN LOMBORG - May 22, 2009.
"Some business leaders are cozying up with politicians and scientists to demand swift, drastic action on global warming. This is a new twist on a very old practice: companies using public policy to line their own pockets...."

New Policy Direction for Climate Change
Bob Carter, Quadrant - April 2009.
In this article, Bob Carter addresses the current situation regarding Australia and 'climate change'. He proposes a new policy direction - to establish a national organisation dealing with current climate emergencies- such as fires and floods. The organisation Emergency Management Australia ' in the federal Attorney-General's Department could fulfil this function - it currently deals with training matters. At a conference on 'Natural Climate Change', in May 2009, he said that if 'global warming' (or cooling) were to occur then the resulting issues could be dealt with by such an organisation.
29 April 2009 - Ten Myths of Global Warming...
Andrew Bolt challenges everyone who supports the notion of human-caused global warming to do a test... name their top three 'proofs'. He claims that they will most likely be in his 'Top Ten Myths of Global Warming'.
His article provides a good overview of the issue...
Global warming alarmists out in cold
Andrew Bolt - Herald Sun - April 29, 2009.
"IT'S snowing in April. Ice is spreading in Antarctica . The Great Barrier Reef is as healthy as ever. And that's just the news of the past week. Truly, it never rains but it pours - and all over our global warming alarmists.
Time's up for this absurd scaremongering. The fears are being contradicted by the facts, and more so by the week.
Doubt it? Then here's a test.
Name just three clear signs the planet is warming as the alarmists claim it should. Just three. Chances are your "proofs" are in fact on my list of 10 Top Myths about global warming. . ."
16 March 2009 - Climate conference comments
The international scientists promoting the notion of climate change met in Copenhagen in early March. Melanie Phillips comments...
The inescapable apocalypse has been seriously underestimated
Melanie Phillips - Thursday, 12th March 2009 - The Spectator
"The atmosphere is cooling, the ice is expanding, the seas are not rising -- even though carbon emissions are increasing. The evidence is now crystal clear to anyone with an unwashed brain that man-made global warming theory is sheer unadulterated bunkum. So how do the warmers react to the ever more embarrassing evidence that they have hitched their reputations to the biggest anti-scientific scam in history? ....."
March 2009: The Very High Price of PC Power
Ray Evans and Tom Quirk - Quadrant March 2009.
"This is a Baptist and bootlegger story. The term "Baptist and bootlegger" comes from the prohibition era of America, when from 1920 to 1933, the manufacture and distribution of alcoholic beverages was prohibited. . . . (explanation follows!)...
"Renewable energy" is the most recent Australian example of a Baptist and bootlegger coalition. The Greens, having demonised carbon dioxide, and having put the coal-based power stations on which we depend for our electricity at the top of their closure list, keep on telling us that renewable energy will provide for our energy needs; "wind and solar" they keep on chanting as if they were singing psalms...."
17 February 2009 - Average temperatures
You often hear of 'average global temperatiures' being discussed. But when Victoria has heat waves with temperatures over 45 degrees C and places near London have freezing cold and snow, an 'average' doesn't seem to make much sense.
In the following article, researchers from Denmark and Canada analyse the issue of 'average temperatures', give various options for calculating it and highlight flaws in the concept.
Researchers Question Validity Of A 'Global Temperature'
"ScienceDaily(Mar. 18, 2007) - Discussions on global warming often refer to 'global temperature.' Yet the concept is thermodynamically as well as mathematically an impossibility, says Bjarne Andresen, a professor at The Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, who has analyzed this topic in collaboration with professors Christopher Essex from University of Western Ontario and Ross McKitrick from University of Guelph, Canada...."

24 November 2008 - PRUDEN: The killer frost for global warming*
Wesley Pruden, Washington Times, Friday, November 21, 2008.
Turn up the heat, somebody. The globe is freezing. Even Al Gore is looking for an extra blanket. Winter has barely come to the northern latitudes and already we've got bigger goosebumps than usual. So far the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reports 63 record snowfalls in the United States, 115 lowest-ever temperatures for the month. Only 44 Octobers over the past 114 years have been cooler than this last one.
20 November 2008 - The Futile Quest for Climate Control
Robert M. Carter, Quadrant , November 2008.
Climate change knows three realities: science reality, which is what working scientists deal with every day; virtual reality, which is the wholly imaginary world inside computer climate models; and public reality, which is the socio-political system within which politicians, business people and the general citizenry work.
The science reality is that climate is a complex, dynamic, natural system that no one wholly comprehends, though many scientists understand different small parts. So far, science provides no unambiguous evidence that dangerous or even measurable human-caused global warming is occurring.
20 October 2008: "Illusions of Climate Science"
William Kininmonth, Quadrant, October 2008.
William Kininmonth is the former head of Australia's National Climate Centre. He was an Australian representative and consultant to the World Meteorological Organization on climate issues and is the author of Climate Change: A Natural Hazard (Multi-science Publishing Co., 2004).
He begins: "How have we come to a situation where, as some polls suggest, most Australians are so concerned about dangerous climate change that they will put aside the very tools and technologies that have sustained clean air, clean water, nutritious food and long life? More importantly, is the perceived danger real and will the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions avert the perceived danger? Although there are many uncertainties to be resolved, it is clear that the community has been the subject of more than two decades of heavily biased propaganda.
"In spite of claims to the contrary, there is no consensus of scientists supporting the findings and recommendations of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. There exists a large and vocal group of highly qualified dissenters (often denigrated as sceptics, deniers or worse). Published letters and opinions in the press suggest the scientific community is still divided and the community has not succumbed to the propaganda of human-caused global warming. Many in the community, with every justification, are awaiting more information about the costs and the economic and social impacts before lining up to march behind the government's carbon dioxide reduction banner..."
Brendan O'Neill, Spiked Online - Friday 18 July 2008.
"Today, environmentalists like Guardiancolumnist George Monbiot are adding a gloss of 'scientific truth' to elite prejudices and fears...."
Interesting article on how a man in the UK who was once considered to be on the 'green fringe' is now lauded as 'a man of reason' and the defender of truth and having a 'dazzling command of science'!!!
No smoking hot spot
The Australian, David Evans, July 18, 2008
This article is very interesting as Dr Evans worked with the Australian Greenhouse Office, doing the models for carbon accounting.
He now says the earth is not warming and gives a lot of evidence to show the whole thing is not valid!
"I DEVOTED six years to carbon accounting, building models for the Australian Greenhouse Office. I am the rocket scientist who wrote the carbon accounting model (FullCAM) that measures Australia compliance with the Kyoto Protocol, in the land use change and forestry sector. . . I've been following the global warming debate closely for years. When I started that job in 1999 the evidence that carbon emissions caused global warming seemed pretty good: CO2 is a greenhouse gas, the old ice core data, no other suspects.
The evidence was not conclusive, but why wait until we were certain when it appeared we needed to act quickly? Soon government and the scientific community were working together and lots of science research jobs were created. We scientists had political support, the ear of government, big budgets, and we felt fairly important and useful (well, I did anyway). It was great. We were working to save the planet.
But since 1999 new evidence has seriously weakened the case that carbon emissions are the main cause of global warming, and by 2007 the evidence was pretty conclusive that carbon played only a minor role and was not the main cause of the recent global warming. As Lord Keynes famously said, "When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?" ..." Click the headline to read his conclusions!
The deceit behind global warming
The Telegraph, UK, 4 Nov 2007.
By Christopher Booker and Richard North
They are the authors of a new book called Scared to Death: From BSE To Global Warming - How Scares Are Costing Us The Earth.
They begin "No one can deny that in recent years the need to "save the planet" from global warming has become one of the most pervasive issues of our time". Then they go on to outline five stages of the current focus on global warming...
Stage 1, the scientific writings about global cooling in the '70s... stage 3 Kyoto... "stage five of the story has seen all sorts of question marks being raised over Gore's alleged consensus". "More serious, however, has been all the evidence accumulating to show that, despite the continuing rise in CO2 levels, global temperatures in the years since 1998 have no longer been rising and may soon even be falling. It was a telling moment when, in August, Gore's closest scientific ally, James Hansen of the Goddard Institute for Space Studies, was forced to revise his influential record of US surface temperatures showing that the past decade has seen the hottest years on record. His graph now concedes that the hottest year of the 20th century was not 1998 but 1934, and that four of the 10 warmest years in the past 100 were in the 1930s."
They conclude "If global warming does turn out to have been a scare like all the others, it will certainly represent as great a collective flight from reality as history has ever recorded. The evidence of the next 10 years will be very interesting."
