Chick-fil-A boycott - and appreciationUS company Chick-fil-A sells fried chicken. In recent times they have been subject to protests from homosexual activists because the President of the company, Dan Cathy, is a committed Christian who attends a Baptist church and supports Biblical values. Last year homosexuals protested when he donated food to a seminar on 'traditional marriage'. Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy recently did an interview with Biblical Recorder that was re-posted by Baptist Press where he made comments supporting marriage - he said, "We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that." He didn't even mention homosexuality - but the homosexual activists were still upset and organised protests and threatened a boycott. Defend Christians reported that some political leaders also protested about his comments: "Chicago mayor, and former White House Chief of Staff to President Obama, Rahm Emanuel, has pledged to block Chick-fil-A from opening a restaurant within the city. Boston’s mayor also joined the fight against Chick-fil-A." In response, a 'Chick-fil-A Appreciation day' was organisedfor yesterday, 1 August by Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. People signed up to support Chick-fil-A - and many restaurants had LONG queues of people waiting to be served! More than 650,000 people signed up to say they would support Chick-fil-A! Check out the I Support Chick-fil-A website. Take a look at the photos of queues of people - and cars... here and in media report below. Visit the Cathy family website and be inspired! |
